I know I said I wouldn’t be back until tomorrow but I decided to let at least another week of inventory build up before shipping it to amazon to maximize my UPS pickup spending. So… that left part of my morning today free to hit a couple thrift stores.
What you see in the picture is everything I picked up Friday and Today but since it was too nice to work Friday I am doing it all today. Actually, it is too nice to work today too but I probably shouldn’t keep using that excuse so back to work I go!
The best finds were:
The Family Guy Evil Monkey Plush – paid $5.99 and listed for $55.
The My Little Pony Walking Talking Pinkie Pie – paid $1.49 and listed for $35.
The Candy Corn Build a Bear – paid $3.99 and listed for $35.
The Bear Works baseball outfit- paid $3.99 and listed for $35.
The Homer #1 Fan plush – paid 99 cents and listed for $35.
The Tow Mater plush – paid $1.99 and listed for $45.
The Hallmark Peanuts Latte Set – paid $5.99 and listed for $75.
The Disney Christmas Countdown Set – paid $1.99 and listed for $35.
The Royal Doulton Classic Pooh Christening Mug and Figurine Set – paid $4.99 and listed for $45.
A few other items were not new to Amazon but had never been sold via FBA so I am waiting for the dimension info to populate so that I can list them as well.
And, as usual there were a few duds:
The R2D2 pillow – I mostly had decided I was going to keep this for my son since his room is Star Wars now and once I saw that it was only selling for $14.99 anyway it was a definite keeper. Paid $1.99.
The Horse and Carriage wooden construction set – paid $1.99 and it was only selling for about $5 so I decided to stash it away for a rainy day craft.
The Wine Bottle Sweater 3 pack – paid $1.99. They weren’t on Amazon and I decided I’d rather keep them for cute winter gifts than go through the hassle of creating a listing.
The Tart Gift set – paid $3.49. This cute little set (tart pan, apron, tart handle, and recipes) wasn’t on Amazon. And I don’t have one so I added it to my baking pan collection. Maybe I am just a terrible baker because I haven’t tried to make a tart yet? lol
The bottom line:
Total items listed: 30
Total Buy Cost: $70.72
Total Sales Value: $875.26
Total Net Profit: $558.86
A nice two day haul! 🙂
My batch from last week is still slowly getting checked into Amazon (I have them do all the prep so it takes a lot longer once it arrives there) and sales are trickling in. So far today I sold a Polar Express Santa for $50, a My Little Pony Build a Bear for $35, and a Linny Wonder Pet plush for $35. So, yes… plush really does sell (and for an amazing profit!).
In other news I came across a post this morning from Rob Anderson. For those of you who don’t know Rob you can check him out at www.dollarmoves.com. He is an amazing resource for all things Amazon! Today he put up a video about getting ungated for certain sales categories on Amazon. It seems that sometimes Amazon opens these categories for a bit so that you can get in by just requesting (as long as you meet the criteria for sales and all of that) instead of jumping through the hoops they usually require (flat files and all that fun stuff).
I myself was grandfathered into selling in the grocery and health and beauty categories but the only other gated one I had gotten approval for was jewelry. I had applied to Clothing last year but was denied because I couldn’t get the flat files right and didn’t sell clothing on a separate website. Well, today after watching Rob’s video I decided to give it another try and was immediately approved for clothing! And not just that but also automotive, shoes, handbags, sunglasses, luggage, collectible books, watches, used carrier branded cellphones, and even Amazon Custom (which can only be done as orders you fill yourself and not FBA but I figured it was worth getting in case I wanted to do this later).
These newly approved categories won’t increase my thrifted sales much but I am looking to them more for my wholesale lines and am excited about all the new venues that are now open to me once I get back into that part of my business this summer.
Ok, I think I have gone on long enough for today. 🙂 I’ll be back soon with more goodies… have a great night!
